Road to 10,000: Weekly Goals and Updates, Week 4

How to write blogging goals and make plans to reach those goals of increasing traffic and social media following by Sarah Smirks.
Happy Monday!  It's time for week 4 of my series, Road to 10,000.  For those just tuning in to this series, it is my weekly goals and status updates in my goal to reach 10,000 viewers a month and 10,000 social media followers.

You can see week 1, week 2, and week 3 here.

Blog Goals from Last Week

Last week my goals were to reach 60 blog sessions a weekday, 2000 Twitter followers, and 750 Instagram followers.

Sessions Goal:  60/weekday
Status:  #Fail

Close, but no cigar.  I averaged 52.5 sessions per day.  Something I noticed about my analytics that will help me in the future:  on the days I write a new post, I get between 70 and 100 sessions, but on the days I don't write a new post, I get around 30 sessions.  If I'm going to meet my goal, I'm going to have to write 5 posts a week, instead of the 3 posts a week that I'm writing now.

I wrote posts on August 3, 4, and 5.  See that SUPER steep drop when I didn't have a new post?
Twitter Followers:  2,000
Status:  #Fail

Another close by no cigar on this one.  As of Sunday, August 9, I had 1,979 followers.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  I was so, so close.  I think I would have made this goal if I did any link parties for Twitter this week, but I didn't....

Instagram Followers:  750
Status:  Rocked it.

I joined several link parties, commented, and liked photos galore.  I also followed the followers of a few accounts that are similar to mine.  By doing that, I killed my goal.

Blog Goals for This Week

Bloglovin:  This week, I'm going to focus on Bloglovin.  I joined the August follower challenge.  I have zero hope of winning, but I think it's some good motivation to build my following on Bloglovin (my favorite blog feed, like, ever).  My goal this week for Bloglovin is to reach 150.  Wish me luck.  That's a lofty one.  To do this, I'm going to write a post about Bloglovin, tweet out a daily tweet about the challenge, & join link parties.

Sessions/weekday:  I'm really shooting for 60/sessions again.  To do this, I'm going to go from 3 posts a week to 5 posts.  I think I'm going to have to do that until I reach my goal.  I will also promote on all social media (I just upgraded to the premium Hootsuite and just joined Board Booster) and join link parties for each post.  Another must do, that I will try and get done this week, is add my blog to directories.

Twitter:  I am aiming to reach 2,050 followers this week.  To do this, I'll probably need to resort to my mass follow/unfollow of similar accounts to mine and I will stay on track with my Twitter schedule.

What are your goals this week for your blog?  How do you plan them?
